Southern Westchester BOCES’ Valhalla campus is opening its doors this summer for a unique opportunity for students entering grades eight through 10. For the first time, students can choose from a variety of classes that interest them through a Career Exploration Summer Camp. There are three week-long sessions available, and students can mix and match the course of study.

Students have the option to select from a diverse range of courses, such as 3D Modeling/Printing, Automotive, Commercial Art, Computer Coding, Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary, Fashion, Sound, and TV/Video.

Each session is unique and contains its own curriculum for students to enjoy. “A student can enroll in three consecutive sessions of the same course and learn something new in each one or they can choose to enroll in different course offerings,” said teacher Jason Poniatowski. “It’s a great opportunity for students to explore related careers.”

The program is open to students in all 32 component districts.

“It's geared towards hands-on learning and exposes the students to a wider view of their area of interest,” said Mr. Poniatowski. “The camp is designed so that students can discover the fun part of learning.”

Each session costs $249 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. If a course is full, they may choose another program of interest or receive a refund.
