Trinity Wilson’s journey to the Center for Career Services was inspired by her love of cooking.

“I like to cook and enjoy passing out food I made to see others enjoy eating it,” she said. “That makes me feel really good about myself.”

Now, Trinity, a senior at Pelham Memorial High School, will have another opportunity to work for the benefit of others. She’s one of three student members of the Southern Westchester Board of Education this school year.

She spent last year — her first year in the Culinary Arts program — talking with friends about possible changes that would benefit her new school. “But that was just among my friends and me, and I didn’t think more deeply about it,” she said. “Now that I’m involved, I’ll be able to raise those topics and talk about them with the board.”

Trinity describes herself as naturally social and believes that skill will serve her well as she works alongside board trustees and members of SWBOCES administration this year.

“I love talking to people,” she said. “I enjoy seeing what’s on their mind and trading ideas back and forth. The people we will work with are knowledgable, and that will help me learn and grow as a person — both to be a functional member of this school and just in general.”
