Career Services opens its doors for 2026-27 school year

More than 900 students filled the campus of Southern Westchester BOCES’ Center for Career Services Tuesday, marking the start of the 2026-27 school year with record enrollment. The growth reflects growing interest, the expansion of second-year programs Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Welding, and the addition of one new offering: Pathways in Education.

Students returned to the Center for Career Services for the 2026-27 school year.As students stepped off buses, returning students greeted familiar teachers with hugs, handshakes and smiles. New students received a helping hand from staff members, who distributed schedules and guided first-year attendees to their classrooms.

The anticipation for the new year was evident.

“I’m very excited,” said Emergency Medical Services (EMS) student Jala Christian, a senior from Ossining High School. “I really like my teachers and my class. It’s going to be a good school year!”
