More than 800 students attended the Center for Career Services’ annual Job Fair, which attracted 22 local businesses that represented diverse industries and career pathways.
Additionally, 55 students attended the school’s Job Fair Preparation Workshop, which helped them prepare to apply for jobs.
“Our workshop prepared students with career readiness skills, including professional dress code and presentation, techniques for answering common interview questions, and how to deliver an elevator pitch,” said Tracy Reeves, Career Services’ Work-Based Learning Coordinator. “An elevator pitch teaches them how to give a concise, 30-second introduction to potential employers that covers who they are, what they do, and relays their career goals.”
Morning and afternoon students from Career Services’ programs visited three different locations around campus to learn more from local business partners. They asked questions, received information, and shared their contact information as a first step toward connecting with a potential employer.
The businesses in attendance covered a wide range of opportunities, from union apprenticeships to entry-level positions and seasonal employment. Thank you to the following businesses for supporting our Southern Westchester BOCES students:
