Career Conference allows nearly 1,200 students to learn from professionals

Students from SWBOCES' 32 component districts attended the conference

The Center for Career Services hosted 70 speakers covering 26 different career fields during Southern Westchester BOCES’ annual Career Conference on Nov. 14, 2025.

Nearly 1,200 students from SWBOCES’ 32 component districts listened to presentations on occupations as varied as aviation, animal science and architecture, to education, fashion, law enforcement, food service, nursing and construction.

The Center for Career Services hosted 70 speakers and nearly 1,200 students.The speakers each explained their profession, detailed their educational and training paths, and answered questions from students.

“We have received great feedback from our speakers,” said Dahlia Jackson, the Director of the Center for Career Services. “The speakers stated that the students were engaged and asking great questions and they are looking forward to coming back next year.”

The speakers held two different sessions, and students selected two different sessions to attend. The presentations were each attended by dozens of students or more, with popular careers like nursing and business attracting more than 100 to individual sessions.

After the Career Conference was completed, guest presenters were invited to stay for a lunch that was prepared by students in Career Services’ Culinary Arts program.

 Animal Sciences was one of several classrooms that held presentations.
