SWBOCES students benefit from a 'Premier' work partnership

customers signing in for student workers

The Center for Career Services at Southern Westchester BOCES has recently partnered with The Premier Collection, a full-service automotive dealership in Elmsford, in a collaboration that will provide Work-Based Learning opportunities as well as Jobs for our students enrolled in a variety of Career and Technical Education programs.

Two students from SWBOCES's Office Skills program, Samantha Perkaj and Lisbeth Zhagui, were on hand May 4 to support The Premier Collection's grand opening event, working as receptionists and checking in guests as they entered the facility. These students also assisted in the event setup.

This is the latest example of the way our programs partner with local industriesfor the mutual benefit of our students, who gain real-world work experience, and the businesses they support. These work-based experiences enable students in our programs to apply what they have learned in their classrooms. Other programs whose students will participate in this strategic work-based learning partnership include Automotive Technology, Collision Technology, and iCTE.
