On June 17, Reverend Peter Ross Powell and Patrice Fitzpatrick of Christ Church presented Jeanneth with a check in the amount of $3,000.

The scholarship, endowed by William P. Schliemann, is awarded to an exceptional student who is pursuing additional education and training in the trades. The Christ Church Outreach Committee selected Jeanneth from a group of eight candidates.

“Jeanneth is well-deserving of the William P. Schliemann Scholarship Award. She enjoyed and worked hard in animal science, and I know she will be successful in her post-secondary goals,” said Dahlia Jackson, Director of the Center for Career Services.

The scholarship is named in honor of William P. Schliemann, a long-time member of the parish of Christ Church who passed away in 2004 at the age of 93. A World War II veteran and former marketing executive, Mr. Schliemann and his family were active members of the community and believed strongly in the value of education. He was especially interested in promoting post-secondary training for outstanding young people who decide to pursue technical vocations.

Jeanneth will be using the funds to pursue her field of Veterinary Technician at Westchester Community College this fall.
