Baked with love
Valentine’s Bake sale a hit
Who needs chocolate and roses when there are homemade brownies, cookies and cupcakes to enjoy for Valentine’s Day?
Students in Lisa Rudner’s Baking, Food and Retail Service class baked up a storm of sweet treats for a Valentine’s Day Bake Sale at the Center for Career Services.
On the menu were heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, brownies and three varieties of cupcakes. along with Linzer cookies and chocolate-dipped strawberries.
The sale is a fundraiser for the Culinary Arts program.
Joining the culinary students this year were those in the Fashion Design and Merchandising classes, who sold handmade items including small teddy bears and fabric roses. They also sold felt, heart-shaped pockets that could easily hold one of the cookies made by the culinary students. The Sound and Television production class provided ambience music, including a musician who played live music for the morning session and the Commercial Art class made up signs for the sale.
Sales were brisk throughout the day as classes took turns stopping in for a sweet pick-me-up.
